The UFC is back in Las Vegas this weekend for UFC Fight Night: Allen vs Costa, taking place this Saturday, May 16th, at the Meta Apex. Headlining the card is a featherweight matchup between Arnold Allen (#7) and Melquizael Costa (#12), with Allen trying to steady himself after the toughest stretch of his UFC run and Costa looking to turn a six-fight win streak into a breakthrough win over an established top-10 opponent.

Allen comes into this one having lost three of his last four, but the losses have come against Max Holloway, Movsar Evloev, and Jean Silva, so this is less a collapse than a hard reset after years near the top of the division. He is still at his best when he can work behind his southpaw movement, draw opponents forward, and punish entries with the straight left, check hook, and quick exits. Costa brings a very different kind of pressure. He has won six straight, stopped Morgan Charrière with a head kick, then became the first fighter to finish Dan Ige, landing a spinning back kick late in the opening round. Allen has the cleaner long-term track record, but Costa is arriving with the confidence of a fighter whose reads are getting sharper and whose kicks are starting to decide fights before opponents can settle into them.
