🇦🇿 UFC Fight Night: Fiziev vs Torres this Saturday in Baku, Azerbaijan
The UFC heads to Baku this weekend for UFC Fight Night: Fiziev vs Torres, taking place this Saturday, June 27th, at National Gymnastics Arena in Azerbaijan. Headlining the card is a lightweight matchup between Rafael Fiziev (#11) and Manuel Torres (#15), with Fiziev trying to steady himself in front of a home crowd after a rough stretch, and Torres getting the biggest opportunity of his UFC run after turning nearly every Octagon appearance into a first-round finish.
Fiziev enters this one having lost four of his last five, but that record needs some context: two of those fights came against Justin Gaethje, one ended on a knee injury against Mateusz Gamrot, and his last loss came against one of the division’s sharpest rising strikers in Mauricio Ruffy. He is still the cleaner, more layered striker here, with the kicks, counters, and shot selection to punish bad entries. The question is whether Torres lets that edge show. In his 20 professional bouts, only one has gone past the first round. All six of his UFC fights have ended in the first round, and all of his UFC wins have earned Performance of the Night bonuses. Fiziev should have the advantage the longer the fight goes, but Torres has built his career on making fights chaotic before opponents have time to settle in.
