🇺🇸 UFC Freedom 250: Topuria vs Gaethje this Sunday at the White House
The UFC heads to Washington, D.C. this weekend for UFC Freedom 250: Topuria vs Gaethje, taking place this Sunday, June 14th, on the South Lawn of the White House, with the public fan fest set up nearby at The Ellipse. Headlining the seven-fight card is a lightweight title unification bout between champion Ilia Topuria and interim champion Justin Gaethje, with Topuria returning for his first lightweight title defense after knocking out Charles Oliveira, and Gaethje getting another shot at the undisputed belt after beating Paddy Pimblett for the interim title.
Topuria comes into this one unbeaten at 17-0, and his recent run has been about as clean and violent as the sport gets: he knocked out Alexander Volkanovski to win the featherweight title, stopped Max Holloway in his first defense, then moved up and put away Charles Oliveira in the first round to take the lightweight belt. Gaethje, however, is a very different kind of challenger. He just went five rounds with Paddy Pimblett to win interim gold, and even now he remains one of the division’s most punishing fighters. The calf kicks are still there, the punching power is still there. Topuria is the sharper boxer and the more efficient puncher, but Gaethje has built his whole career on making efficient fighters work at a pace and temperature they do not want.
Tickets for the fan fest were distributed in a lottery and they do not look to be transferrable (there is nothing in the secondary market).
