This weekend’s UFC Fight Night event in Las Vegas suffered a major shake-up on Monday, with the announcement that Amir Albazi had withdrawn from the main event for undisclosed reasons. To salvage the headliner, the promotion slotted in undefeated South Korean prospect HyunSung Park, who had been scheduled to fight Steve Erceg just a week later on August 9th. Park carries a perfect 10‑0 professional record and has finished nine straight opponents. Though it no longer carries the same title implications, Taira vs Park remains a compelling matchup between two rising stars in the flyweight division.
In other news, the UFC dropped a wave of major fight announcements this week, with Aspinall vs Gane, Ankalaev vs Pereira 2, Merab vs Sandhagen, and Procházka vs Rountree all taking place in October. See below for details.
